Spinal Decompression

Doctors prescribe non-surgical decompression therapy for thousands of patients everyday. Decompression has a proven history of treating herniated discs, degenerative disc disease, low back pain, neck pain, and sciatic pain.

Non–surgical Decompression Therapy treats not just the symptoms, but the underlying conditions that may be causing your pain.

Ask your doctor about Decompression Therapy.

We help patients struggling with the following conditions:

Auto

Auto accident injuries create pain and stress that last for a long time. Injury to the head, neck, shoulders and back can even lead to more debilitating injuries if not treated properly. Rear-end car collisions can sprain or strain delicate tissues of the neck and back near the spinal cord.

  • Whiplash
  • Back /Neck pain
  • Arm / leg pain
  • Muscle Pain

Adkore recommends:

  • Chiropractic for spine care
  • Massage therapy  for muscle pain and spasms
  • Acupuncture will help with any inflammation and also help by providing faster internal healing
  • Physical therapy will help with re-gaining your strength, reeducating your body to move the way it did before your accident

Bulging/Herniated Discs

A herniated disc occurs when the inner portion of the disk pushes into the spinal canal through a rupture in the outer protective layer of the disk. A herniated disk can result in a great deal of pain or weakness that can radiate from the back to the legs and arms.

  • Low back / Neck Pain
  • Sciatic Pain (This pain is most commonly experienced at the outside of the thigh, the lower leg and/or the foot. Shooting pain that radiates down the leg is a common experience with herniated discs. Patients commonly report an electric shock type of symptom.)
  • Arm Pain
  • Muscle Pain

Adkore recommends:

  • Decompression Consultation - Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression relieves pressure from the disc, which, in turn, relieves pressure from the nerve. Research has shown that Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression can create a negative pressure within the disc causing a "vacuum effect". This vacuum effect can "suck" the disc material back inside, thus relieving the pressure from the nerve .
  • Chiropractic Care - Chiropractors can be a valuable asset to patients with herniated or bulging discs. Doctors of Chiropractic are trained to diagnose and treat misalignment and dysfunction in the spine. There are also many chiropractic techniques and treatment protocols that can help relieve pain and muscle hypertonicity associated with intervertebral disc disorders. Chiropractic treatment is one of the most popular alternative treatment methods for back pain, including pain caused by a herniated disk.
  • Acupuncture - Acupuncture does not attempt to treat the bulging/herniated disc itself, but instead focuses on pain relief. Acupuncture involves several thin needles inserted into the skin at various pressure points. Many back pain patients have experienced a great deal of relief from acupuncture treatments, but several treatments are often necessary to maintain the desired results.
  • Homeopathic Injections - Adkore acupuncture practitioners perform subcutaneous injections of FDA approved homeopathic remedies for stubborn conditions, especially pain, not responding well to acupuncture, herbal medicine, and exercise.
  • Massage therapy - Massage therapy provides pain relief and muscle relaxation to many bulging/herniated disc sufferers. There are over 100 different massage techniques, ranging from soft, light strokes to deep pressure massages. Pain relief via massage therapy is often short-term, but many herniated disk patients find it extremely helpful, especially in the first few weeks following the injury.
  • Physical therapy - Physical therapy often plays a major role in bulging/herniated disc recovery. Its methods not only offer immediate pain relief, but they also teach you how to condition your body to prevent injury. There are a variety of physical therapy techniques. Passive treatments relax your body and include deep tissue massage, hot and cold therapy, electrical stimulation (TENS), and hydrotherapy. Your physical therapy program will usually begin with passive treatments. But once your body heals, you will start active treatments that strengthen your body and prevent further pain. Your physical therapist will work with you to develop a plan that best suits you.

Back / Neck / Muscle Pain

  • Subluxation (a vertebra out of its normal zone of motion, causing interference to the proper function of the nervous system at that level)
  • Herniated / bulging disc (can result in a great deal of pain or weakness that can radiate from the back to the legs and arms)
  • Stress
  • Sciatic Pain (pain at the outside of the thigh, the lower leg and/or foot)
  • Arthritis
  • Poor posture
  • Fibromyalgia

Adkore recommends:

  • Massage - It is possible that many types of chronic pain result from physical or mental stress. The motion of a therapist's hands across the joints, muscles, and skeleton can cause greater relaxation. Lowering the level of stress of an individual affects many other areas of health. Massage therapy will help most people with chronic pain.
  • Chiropractic - If the pain is due to any Subluxation, chiropractic care is recommended.
  • Physical therapy - Persons with chronic pain may be severely hurt and physically deconditioned. Physical therapy will include:   Stretching, Strengthening exercises, and Pain relief exercises.
  • Acupuncture - Acupuncture decreases pain by increasing the release of chemicals that block pain, called endorphins. Many acu-points are near nerves. When stimulated, these nerves cause a dull ache or feeling of fullness in the muscle. The stimulated muscle sends a message to the brain, causing the release of endorphins.
  • Homeopathic Injections - Adkore acupuncture practitioners perform subcutaneous injections of FDA approved homeopathic remedies for stubborn conditions, especially pain, not responding well to acupuncture, herbal medicine, and exercise.

Headache Pain

Typically, the headache is caused by neck problems like poor posture, overuse or stress. There is pain on motion which may also be in the shoulder of the same side. The headache pain is mild to severe with no throbbing sensation and may change when pressure is applied to the muscles. The headaches may last from a few hours to a few days or even weeks.

  • Tension Headaches
  • Migraine Headaches
  • Cluster Headaches
  • Headache Muscle Trigger Points

Adkore recommends:

  • Chiropractic - Chiropractic care for headaches attempts to realign the bones of the spine, especially in the neck region, to allow for proper range of motion and to decrease pressure on the nerves that may exacerbate headache pain.
  • Massage - Since many tension headaches and migraine headaches are accompanied by neck pain, headache sufferers find that manual therapies such as massage offer relief from headache pain and related symptoms. Because massage therapy relaxes tense muscles, relieves muscle spasms, improves blood flow and aids relaxation, it can be helpful for relieving the pain of both tension and vascular headaches.
  • Acupuncture - Acupuncture can instantly relieve the pain caused by a headache. In some chronic conditions, it is best to receive acupuncture treatments between acute episodes of headache, especially for migraines headaches. In some cases, periodic acupuncture treatments may be required to prevent future occurrences of headache.
  • Homeopathic Injections - Adkore acupuncture practitioners perform subcutaneous injections of FDA approved homeopathic remedies for stubborn conditions, especially pain, not responding well to acupuncture, herbal medicine, and exercise.
  • Decompression - If your headaches are caused by herniated or bulging disc in the cervical spine, spinal decompression is an option. The primary focus of non-surgical spinal decompression therapy is to treat disc injuries in the lumbar and cervical regions of the back. Treatment involves lying on a comfortable specially-built table, which flexes and bends in different directions under rigidly controlled conditions.

Who it Will Help? - Non-surgical spinal decompression has had its greatest success treating patients suffering from pinched nerves, sciatica, radiating arm pain, degenerative disc disease, and herniated and/or bulging discs.

  • Physical therapy - Physical therapy techniques may help to lessen the discomfort and duration of the migraine. For people who have migraines that involve the joints and muscles, especially those in the jaw and neck, physical therapy may be able to help eliminate the occurrence of migraines. A physical therapist will also be able to teach you some stretching exercises that can also reduce the discomfort and duration of a migraine.

Joint Pain

  • Arthritis
  • Osteoarthritis
  • Juvenile arthritis
  • Rheumatoid Arthritis
  • Lupus
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Post Surgery
  • Hip replacement
  • Shoulder Pain
  • Senior Rehab

Adkore recommends:

  • Chiropractic - Chiropractic for arthritis addresses the practical issue of getting the body to move more freely. Once the body is aligned to move with fewer restrictions, the need for pain-relieving medications lessens, or disappears altogether.
  • Massage - Massage therapy can help improve joint movement, relax tense muscles and stimulate the flow of both blood and nutrients to the skin and tissue underneath. Patients report it feels good and breaks the cycle of stress that often comes with chronic illnesses, such as arthritis.
  • Acupuncture - Acupuncture increases the blood flow to various parts of the body. The increased blood flow results in reduction of inflammation at the joints, which is one of the leading causes of pain in arthritis patients.
  • Homeopathic Injections - Adkore Acupuncture practitioners perform subcutaneous injections of FDA approved homeopathic remedies for stubborn conditions, especially pain, not responding well to acupuncture, herbal medicine, and exercise.
  • Physical therapy - Physical therapy has one simple goal: keeping you moving. It will stimulate muscles, bones, and joints through exercise or other methods. The result is more strength, tone, and overall fitness. Physical therapy will help with joint function, muscle strength, and fitness level.

Pinched Nerve Pain

  • Sciatic Pain
  • Arm/ Leg pain
  • Herniated / Bulging Disc
  • Subluxation

Adkore recommends:

  • Chiropractic - A chiropractor will treat your pain by realigning your body, which might involve manipulation of your spine, or legs, arms, and neck, with chiropractic adjustments. You'll also be treated with rehabilitative exercises or physiotherapy (using ultrasound treatment, electrotherapy, or ice packs) to reduce inflammation, pain, or muscle spasms. It may require more than a single treatment to get long-lasting results.
  • Acupuncture -Acupuncture can be used successfully to treat a pinched nerve. It will release blockages in the energy flow. When a blockage occurs in a meridian channel, an inflammation and swelling can cause compression on a nerve. By releasing the blockage and resuming the natural energy flow throughout the body, the surrounding tissue will relax, followed by the nerve.
  • Decompression - Using a suction-type effect, the pinched nerve in your neck or low back can be released from compression. With non surgical spinal decompression, our chiropractors will utilize equipment in the office that will work to create a negative pressure in the space between the two vertebrae that are pinching the nerve. Because the spinal fluid, oxygen and water must reach the inter-vertebral space, the use of this treatment may require five or six sessions before you experience relief.
  • Physical therapy -The goal of the exercises from the physical therapy for the pinched nerve is to provide you with a way of strengthening and stretching the muscles that are in the area of the pinched nerve. Each exercise is designed to provide for a specific, necessary movement like this. By stretching the muscle, you'll be relieving the pressure that is on the pinched nerve.

Sports Injuries

  • Competitive Athletes
  • Children and teens
  • The aging
  • Injury Prevention

Adkore recommends:

  • Chiropractic - Chiropractic offers a balanced approach to the treatment and the healing of sports injuries. By using the chiropractic adjustment to return spinal segments to their normal mobility and by using physical therapy to help the supportive tissues (muscles, tendons, & ligaments), chiropractic physicians help the injured areas return to normal function.
  • Massage - The main purpose of sports massage therapy is to help alleviate the stress and tension which builds up in the body’s soft tissues during physical activity. Where minor injuries and lesions occur, due to overexertion and/or overuse, massage can break them down quickly and effectively. The massage will help prepare the athlete for peak performance, to drain away fatigue, to relieve swelling, to reduce muscle tension, to promote flexibility and to prevent injuries.
  • Acupuncture - In addition to conventional R.I.C.E (Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation) treatment, many athletes have found acupuncture treatment to be very helpful in suppressing inflammation and swelling fast. Acupuncture provides reduction of inflammation and swelling in many cases.
  • Homeopathic Injections - Adkore acupuncture and chiropractic practitioners highly recommend this kind of injection therapy for athletes for its rapid recovery rate in surgical procedures. An athlete recovering from a muscle strain would need about 2-3 weeks to recover. With this injection, it would reduce recovery time in about a week or two.
  • Physical therapy - An athlete who is suffering from a sports injury (rotator cuff tendonitis, shoulder injuries, jumping/cutting/landing injuries, running injuries, fractures, head injuries, neck injuries and tennis injuries) can be effectively treated using physical therapy, one of the effective methods that facilitate speedy recovery and helps athletes to quickly return to sports.
